This product line includes mainly laser single crystals to be used as a gain medium for solid state lasers and amplifiers. The host matrix for our crystals is Yttrium Aluminum Garnet (YAG) and Lutetium Aluminum Garnet (LuAG). For some applications, mixed host matrix may be produces: Yttrium-Lutetium Aluminum Garnet (YLuAG).
YAG is well known as an excellent host material due to its good thermal and mechanical characteristics. It is the most used host material especially for high power lasers due to its low thermal expansion, high optical transparency, low acoustic losses and rather high threshold for optical damage, hardness and stability to chemical and mechanical changes.
YAG can host many dopant ions: rare earth and transition metals. The dopant ions replace trivalent Yttrium (Y) ions within the host for some dopants like Ytterbium (Yb) and Erbium (Er) the doping can go as high as 100% meaning the full replacement of Y atoms by dopant (leading to YbAG and ErAG). For the others (Neodymium (Nd) for example) only low doping percentage is feasible due to the ion radii incompatibility. Also Yag is used to be doped by transition metal ions like Cr. The most commonly used products are Yb:YAG, Nd:YAG, Nd:Ce:YAG, Er:YAG, Ce:YAG, Tm:YAG, Ho:YAG, Tm:Ho:Cr:YAG, Eu:YAG.
